I Got The Most Amazing Facial In The Basement Of A Clothing Boutique
When I arrived at Pink Tartan‘s Yorkville store for a facial this past September, I looked around, confused as to where exactly it would take place. Omorovicza, the luxe skincare brand known for infusing their products with mineral water from its native Hungary, was hosting a pop-up for two days, offering one hour treatments for the unbelievable price of $50. I was directed to the lower level, where the back section of the boutique was curtained off. Set up amongst the racks of clothes was a spa bed, next to a table filled with skincare, and stainless steel bowls for water. It definitely wasn’t a noise-proof space and I honestly thought it was going to be weird having my face tended to while lying next to hangers full of jersey pants and dresses, and customers perusing pieces in the next room.
It didn’t matter. Because as soon as Sylvia, Omorovicza’s Regional Therapist who was flown in from New York City, touched my face, the retail environment I was in ceased to exist. Primal Scream’s “Loaded” came on the speakers and I zoned out. Not only because Sylvia’s hands were magical, but because there was more facial massage happening than during any other facial I’ve had before. And it’s not just your typical facial kneading; this is an interpretation of ancient Hungarian techniques that date back 200 years. It is some thorough, intense lymphatic draining shit and you might feel like your brain is melting from how incredible it feels. Just read the review over at Beautygeeks by my friend Liza to convince you. I stumbled back out onto Bellair Street, sleepy but glowing.
The reason I am telling you all this? The pop up is coming back next week, on December 19th and 20th from 10-5pm and the $50 is redeemable against Omorovica products, which Pink Tartan carries. So…if you’re not calling 416 967-7700 or emailing seventyseven@pinktartan.com right now, then I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Did I mention it’s only FIFTY DOLLARS? Oh and Sylvia will be back.
