Inside H&M’s Balmain launch party with Kendall, Kylie, Gigi and the freaking Backstreet Boys
As someone who suffers from critical bouts of FOMO, I can imagine that the following may be hard to read for some: The Backstreet Boys performed at a fashion event. Dreams come true? For me, obviously yes. For Kendall, Gigi, Karlie and Kylie? Yes, yes, yes (and yasss). At last night’s blowout launch event for Balmain’s collaboration with H&M in New York City, the boy band (a.k.a. masters of my mind, body and soul, circa 1998-2001) serenaded a celeb-stacked front row including Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls and Alessandra Ambrosio, who all flanked designer Olivier Rousteing while screaming and losing their collective shit. It was a complete surprise, and took place after the models did a little performance of their own—strutting down a two-floor runway in the Balmain for H&M collection. But they weren’t the only celebs in attendance—Diane Kruger, Alexa Chung, Ellie Goulding and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley were also there because, hey, there ain’t no party like a Backstreet party.
“If you love Balmain, you love couture. But you also love pop culture, youth and fashion,” said Rousteing earlier in the day at a press conference alluding to the night’s events. “Having my girls there to do it in a couture way is really nice.” Really nice is one way to describe it. THE BEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE is another.
In case you don’t have the date circled with hearts, smiley faces and in multiple hues, the Balmain for H&M collection launches in stores on November, 5, 2015. You may want to bring camping supplies.
