After winning the Emerging Talent Award at the 2012 British Fashion Awards and joining forces with Versace’s younger brand, Versus, to design a capsule collection, you’d think J.W. Anderson would have his hands full. Instead it seems like the young designer is just getting started. Thanks to the success of his first collection with Topshop last fall, J.W. Anderson has designed a second Topshop collection for Spring 2013.
“This collection was more about youth cultural groups,” Anderson told Vogue UK. “The girl has evolved. It’s about carrying over the idea of iconic pieces that can be worn over and over and re-working staple looks from the J.W. Anderson wardrobe.”
Monochromatic dresses, jackets, skirts, shorts and coats and are featured in the J.W. Anderson Topshop Spring 2013 collection. Navy blue and black separates dominate the collection, but stand-out pieces include a sweater and skirt with an oversized argyle print that makes us think of a prize-winning jockey. Denim, knits and leathers are all used, but it’s the patent-leather trench coat (available in pale yellow or black) that really stands out. Graphic imagery is displayed on a few key pieces, such as sweaters emblazoned with hearts or turkey shapes. The J.W. Anderson anchor logo is also present on a bag and shirt, both of which are available in different colours. Finally, shoes and accessories are also part of the J.W. Anderson Topshop collection, including flatform penny loafers in shimmering silver, candy pink and stark white. (And if flatforms aren’t your thing, there are other heel styles to choose from.)
The full J.W. Anderson x Topshop Spring 2013 collection will be available in March at the Bay’s Queen Street and Vancouver Topshop stores, so start making your wishlists now!
