Introducing Marsala: Pantone’s 2015 Colour of the Year
Each year Pantone releases their colour of the year so that the beauty-hungry editors and readers of the world know what to get their (our) hands on. Twice a year, the experts gather to pitch palette ideas, colour concepts and scope out trends. The goal is to ultimately decide what lucky colour will be the new black (we’re sorry to have to tell you that it’s not orange). This year, Pantone has announced that Marsala is the official colour of 2015, and who knows better than the experts?
Last year, Radiant Orchid (a deep tropical purple) topped the list. In 2013 it was Emerald Green and in 2012, Tangerine Tango. The questions is, what makes Marsala so special? The Pantone colour experts travel the world to see what colour stands out in film, fashion (specifically runway), and art, all in hopes to pinpoint that one “it” shade. The time has come to welcome Marsala with open arms, in all its wine-stained glory.
According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, “Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.” Sephora is releasing their new Marsala collection on December 26th, hoping to play on the shade’s ability to remain neutral for most skin tones.
Could Marsala be the new colour for you?
