J.K. Rowling Responds to Hateful Tweets
J.K. Rowling knows how to create a killer fantasy novel, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t in tune with the real world.
The Harry Potter author has been dealing with negative feedback after voicing her political views about Donald Trump on Twitter. Supporters of the new president have turned on Rowling, despite some having been fans of the fantasy novels for most of their lives.
But as the Tweets keep rolling, she holds her ground and is quick to shut them down.

She responded to similar Tweets that her ex-fans wrote to her about their Harry Potter boycott. In the next one, she alludes to her novel being completely misread by the person.
Guess it's true what they say: you can lead a girl to books about the rise and fall of an autocrat, but you still can't make her think. pic.twitter.com/oB7Aq6Xz8M

Her quick witted responses are gaining a ton of retweets and likes from people who share her political views.

We have to hand it to her – her responses are valid. But as you may have noticed, the novelist went out of her way to screenshot the hateful Tweets (rather than replying to them) and blocked out the names. This might have been her generously sparing them the counterattack they probably wouldn’t handle as gracefully.
Rowling is extremely direct about her political views on social media and wrote a series of opinionated Tweets and retweets, which began this whole ordeal. She has used Twitter to voice her thoughts about other civil situations, such as Trump’s policy to block funding to international family planning organizations outside of America unless they agree to not promote abortion.
Under the mistaken belief that this will stop abortion. It never has. It just makes it more unsafe. #GlobalGagRule https://t.co/KvtlrKy1Kd

More recently, however, her frustration has been about Trump’s “Muslim ban,” restricting people from certain Muslim countries from entering America. Since Trump signed the immigration order, she has joined other celebrities in speaking out after a series of racist hate crimes surfaced.
May making her "strong statement about the role of women" there, by standing simpering next to a powerful racist.
