Jason Wu is Launching His First-Ever Women’s Fragrance
Jason Wu is really aiming to make his mark in the beauty world.
After launching a makeup collection with Lancome in 2013, collaborating on a five-piece nail polish collection with CND and designing a limited-edition bottle for Caudalie’s cult-classic Beauty Elixr, the 34-year-old Taiwan-born Canadian fashion designer has announced he will be debuting his first-ever signature fragrance at New York Fashion Week this month.
According to WWD, the women’s scent is part of Wu’s licensing pact with Parlux Ltd. and a “glimpse” of the signature scent will be unveiled during the designer’s Fall 2017 ready-to-wear show on February 10th. And while there’s nothing planned beyond fragrance for the time being, Parlux Ltd. president Don Loftus says colour cosmetics and luxury products “could be a possibility in the future.”
Of the partnership the New York-based designer stated, “This has been an incredible personal experience and I am thrilled to be able to showcase my aesthetic as a signature fragrance.”
Loftus, shared similar sentiments.
“It is such a pleasure working with Jason and his talented team on the development of his signature scent. This is just the beginning of what we are sure will be a fruitful and exciting venture.”
While this marks the designer’s first standalone scent, the news isn’t entirely surprising. Wu has dabbled in the fragrance world before, first on a candle collab with Laura Slatkin of Nest Candles (his first official foray into the beauty world) and later on the development of Hugo Boss’ Boss the Scent for Her fragrance, as part of his role as creative director for the design house.
At this point, no more details on the fragrance have been revealed, but we have a feeling it’ll be a hit among Wu’s famous celebrity clientele, including Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana and former first lady, Michelle Obama.
