Jennifer Torosian Collaborates With Lexus on a Special Collection
There is a trend towards unconventional fashion collaborations and the latest fashion person to do so is Toronto designer Jennifer Torosian who has partnered with Lexus on a collection inspired by the automotive brand’s commitment to “brave design, supple materials and sleek styling.” Some of Torosian’s pieces include an asymmetrical dress and sophisticated suit that captures her interpretation of the futuristic Lexus LS+ Concept. Though the collection won’t be sold to the public, you can see it this week on Lexus employees at the Toronto Auto Show, on now until February 25, at the Metro Convention Centre.
How did this collaboration happen?
Lexus Canada approached us to design an exclusive capsule collection for their brand representatives and product specialists for the Canadian Auto Show.
What does an unconventional collaboration like this do for a brand like yours?
I think collaborations are the best way for individual brands to think outside of the box. When working together, something new is created and interesting results are produced. The experience of working with Lexus Canada has given us a chance to showcase our modern sensibilities, and draw inspiration from Lexus’ sleek vehicle designs.
Will this line be in your regular collection?
Our Spring 2018 collection was made for retail, where as this collection for Lexus Canada is exclusively for their presence at the Auto Show and beyond.
What was the inspiration behind this collection?
The inspiration for this collection was the Lexus LS+ concept that has its North American reveal this week. The sleek lines and cool grey colour palette can be found in our designs as well. The silhouettes are streamlined with refreshing contemporary detailing. The collection includes contrast top-stitching, asymmetrical tailoring and Italian fabrics.
What’s your favourite piece from the collection?
My favourite piece is the sleek modern suit for women. It features a crop jacket and slim pant. The feminine tailoring is accentuated by a pleated hem on the back of the jacket and top stitch detailing on shape-lines, cuff and inseam.
Do you drive a Lexus?
I do not currently drive a Lexus, but I did! It was my first car and it was elegant and cool.
