Jessica Chastain is not Here for Johnny Depp’s Infuriating Behaviour
World, take note: May 10, 2017 is the day we realized Jessica Chastain won the Internet.
The 40-year-old actress’s recent interview with BBC News is currently going viral, thanks to Chastain’s perfect response to all the bad press that has been surfacing lately on actor Johnny Depp.
Depp is currently in a legal battle with his ex-business managers, The Management Group, having filed a $25 million lawsuit in January for alleged fraud and mismanagement, and blaming the company for allegedly failing to maintain his records and keep him informed about his finances, leaving him $40 million in debt.
However, TMG’s Joel and Rob Mandel are firing back at Depp, claiming the actor’s allegations are fake and labelling him as an out-of-control movie star with outrageous spending habits, including paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to a sound engineer to be fed lines on set for a year so he wouldn’t have to learn them.
When Chastain was told by a BBC reporter of the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s line-learning “technique,” she responded with an epic eye roll, adding, “My technique is working hard.”

Let’s just look at that eye roll again, shall we?
Seriously, Jess is all of us right now.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Depp’s extravagant spending habits also include $3.6 million annually for his 40-person staff, $350,000 monthly for maintaining his 156-foot yacht, $30,000 monthly for wine, $400,000 for a diamond bracelet (for ex-wife Amber Heard) and $5 million to shoot the ashes of his friend, Hunter S. Thompson, out of a cannon.
Again:
And while the 53-year-old actor may have been able to move past those domestic abuse allegations from his ex-wife Amber Heard (Heard dropped the lawsuit and got a $7 million out-of-court divorce settlement), THR’s reports of Depp’s “excessive drinking, physical fights with Heard and constant lateness, which left hundred of extras waiting for hours at a time” on set for the latest Pirates instalment, Dead Men Tell No Tales (out May 26th), may just leave Johnny’s public image tarnished for good.
We’ll have to see how the entire thing plays out, but, in the meantime, we’ll just be over here applauding Chastain for being relatable AF and pretty much embodying what we’re all feeling RN.
