Karl Lagerfeld promotes his bodyguard to be the face of his latest menswear campaign
Personal assistant to Karl Lagerfeld may seem like a dream job to many, but the job description may be a little more complex than you’d expect. From bodyguard to actor, Sébastien Jondeau has worked for Lagerfeld for 14 years and moves in and out of the spotlight depending on his boss’s needs. With multiple runway stints under his belt and a role in the recent Chanel short-film starring Keira Knightley, it’s only natural that his next assignment would be to front Lagerfeld’s new menswear campaign. Yes, you heard right: WWD reports that the 38-year-old boxing enthusiast (who happens to be the perfect combination of tall, dark and handsome) stars in both a new photo campaign and a short video clip, a teaser for which was released today.
The designer, whose other famous unusual muses include three-year-old Hudson Kroenig and his adorable cat Choupette, is known for raising eyebrows. Parisian native Jondeau comments on his relationship with Karl Lagerfeld in the campaign clip saying “I spend all my time with him, he’s my boss and I respect him.” The newly minted male model, who seems to have no problems with his latest assignment, has likely seen it all throughout his career. Clearly nothing can surprise him at this point.
