Karl Lagerfeld’s muse to go nude on the cover of Wallpaper
Karl Lagerfeld and Philippe Starck have created their own covers and editorial for Wallpaper’s October issue. Lagerfeld’s cover features his current muse Baptiste Giabiconi clad in a Dior Homme suit while Starck’s mixes images of an amoeba, a monkey, a monkey sporting shoes and a question mark.
Although the approach is entirely different, both designers have created a three-dimensional cover with added layers of translucent paper. Peeling off Lagerfeld’s excess cover will reveal a more racy nude Giabiconi while Starck’s three-tier paper presents his view of evolutionary theory. Starck’s editorial features are pretty heavy, including interviews with scientists and artists in an attempt to “make intelligence sexy,” says the designer. And did we mention that Baptiste Giabiconi will be nude? [WWD]
