Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn Have Teamed Up for a Mother-Daughter Capsule Collection
When one thinks of “mother-daughter duos,” some specific pairings immediately come to mind. Perhaps it’s Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, or Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli, or even Kim Kardashian and momager Kris Jenner. But one of the couplets that I always think of is Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard that the two were working together on their very first joint project.
Kate Hudson started her fashionable fitness line Fabletics in 2013, promoting multi-purpose pieces perfect for every occasion–whether that be barre class or bar crawl. With wellness on the rise and the unrelenting ubiquity of athleisure, it makes sense that the two blondes have chosen to team up on a capsule collection for Hudson’s brand.
The nine limited-edition pieces, which launch today, are inspired by Hawn’s everyday wardrobe. From a soft lilac off-the-shoulder top to patterned SculptKnit leggings, these pieces can be worn in and out of the studio. But aside from new gear, there’s another reason that this collab should be on your radar. A portion of the proceeds will go towards Hawn’s charity, MindUP. She created the nonprofit, which benefits mental health initiatives for students, back in 2003. The Daily Mail reports that so far, the program has helped over six million kids.
Hawn was inspired to start MindUP after the devastating events of 9/11. “After that, I perceived that the world was going to change forever, and that our children really needed to be taught the skills to handle some of the silent distress, uncertainty and fearfulness that can become symptomatic,” she said in an interview. “I was not only driven by my love for children, but their future mental health and stability. The symptoms were glaring, and I had a call to action to find a way to help.”
Hawn and Hudson both know how important mindfulness is when it comes to keeping healthy. Hawn has been practicing mindful meditation since 1972. One of the patterns included in the collection is a design made up of lotus flower mandalas–the flower, of course, is widely associated with meditation.
“This partnership has become a passion project with my daughter, supporting one of my most monumental causes,” Hawn told the Daily Mail. “Together we see so many synergies between MindUP and Fabletics–health, wellness, activity, movement and balance, but also giving back.”
With 50 per cent of the proceeds going towards the charity, this collection provides a great opportunity to invest in some new pieces and help a great cause at the same time. The capsule is available now on Fabletics.ca.
