Kate Middleton baby countdown: The Queen wants to go on holiday so could the royal baby hurry up?

She may be the Queen of England, but just like us commoners, Kate Middleton’s due date is on her mind and she’s tired of waiting for the royal baby. This morning, while touring the her kingdom, a 10-year-old girl asked the Queen if she was hoping for a boy or girl. Her reply? She “didn’t really mind” either way but it better be soon: “’I’m going on holiday soon so I would like the baby to hurry up and arrive.”
(Hey, if we spent a few months every summer riding horses and playing with Corgis at a Scottish castle we would be eager for our holiday to begin, too!)
As for an update on the impending arrival of the future king or queen, yesterday US Weekly reported some exclusive details about what will happen once Kate Middleton goes into labour. It basically reads like the makings of a spy film: When Kate has her first contraction, her private secretary will use an encrypted phone to call the doctor, who will “hop into his BMW 6 Series, throw a flashing green emergency beacon light on the roof, and drive the seven-mile, 26-minute route from his Muswell Hill, North London home to St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.” The birthing suite itself has been sanitized and “sanitized and sealed off” since July 1 and it monitored daily by security.
While Kate’s reported July 13 due date has now passed, a hint from her mother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, may indicate a later due date was always the case. During a royal engagement on Monday she said: “We are all just waiting by the telephone. We are hopeful that by the end of the week he or she will be here.” Needless to say, we’re all waiting for that encrypted telephone to ring.
