Kate Middleton caps off her New York City trip hanging with Jenna Lyons and a gala at the Met

And just like that, the Royal whirlwind has come to a close. Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended their final New York City event, an ultra glamorous gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the 600th anniversary of St. Andrew’s College, where they first met. Held across the pond because of the number of expats currently residing in NYC, the gala was the impetus for the whole trip. Thanks for that, guys! The duo’s appearance helped bolster fundraising for the university as well as its many charitable initiatives, with tickets ranging as high as $10,000 each. There, they mingled with guests including Princess Eugenie, who also graduated from St. Andrews.
For the occasion, Kate chose to wear the ink blue off-the-shoulder Jenny Packham gown she wore last year to the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala as well as at the National Portrait Gallery back in February. Given that the event was largely personal, we imagine the choice to re-wear the gown had something to do with modesty. She added some sparkle with diamond and emerald drop earrings and a matching bracelet, which is being reported as a private gift.
Earlier in the day, Kate and Will attended a small reception for Britian’s Creativity Is GREAT campaign, hosted by Sir Patrick Stewart and attended by many of the fashion industry’s biggest talents. The camera crews caught Kate in an animated conversation with Jenna Lyons during which Kate disclosed she was wearing J.Crew jeans to last night’s basketball game. “I was so excited. You couldn’t tell, but that’s okay. At least I know that fact,” Lyons told Vanity Fair.
President Obama, Beyoncé, Hillary Clinton, Jay-Z, Jenna Lyons, LeBron James. This is the last time I’ll think meeting the naked cowboy in Times Square was exciting.
