Kim Kardashian West’s Size-Inclusive Shapewear Line Has A New Name (and a Launch Date)
Back in June, Kim Kardashian West announced the launch of her newest business venture: a line of shapewear garments, which, at the time, was called KIMONO. As soon as the line was announced, the reality star received huge backlash from around the globe, namely being accused of cultural appropriation. Following the turmoil, West pulled the line and announced she would rebrand. And that she has.
Kim took to Instagram today to announce the launch of SKIMS Solutionwear on September 10. “My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me – I’m always listening to their feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name. After much thought and consideration, I’m excited to announce the launch of SKIMS Solutionwear coming September 10,” she wrote in a caption.
Revealing that the pieces (which come in nine shades) will be available in sizes XXS to 5XL, Kim added, “I love the idea that the pieces will be the closest thing to someone’s skin, skimming with amazingly soft and supportive fabrics which accentuate the best parts of our bodies. Available in XXS-5XL, SKIMS Solutionwear is for every body.”
Kim had previously shared multiple videos on her social media accounts in the lead-up to the new name reveal as she wrestled with what to do with the almost two million KIMONO-branded items that already physically existed. In one clip, Kim explained, “I just want you guys to have a little progress report and know that I’m working really hard to figure out how to not be wasteful and change the name at the same time.” It appears the KUWTK star ultimately worked it out, and is gearing up for the imminent launch.
