Knix Helps Fight COVID-19 By Sourcing Medical Gear for Healthcare Workers
Brands like Canada Goose, L’Oreal, Hilary MacMillan and Pyer Moss have stepped up in recent days to help fight the spread of COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus. Today, Canadian intimates brand Knix announced its own plans of aid during this time of crisis.
Joanna Griffiths, founder and CEO of Knix, was informed by her brother, who is a doctor, that healthcare supplies were starting to run low in hospitals across Canada. So she decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the purchase and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. The fund has raised over CAD 80,000 in less than a week.
We want to help! Frontline workers are running out of masks and gowns so we’ve worked with our suppliers to get access to these much-needed items. We’ve launched a GoFundMe so we can bring them in for donation ASAP. Please share and/or donate if you can https://t.co/uTDPKEDOdz

“It is a crucial time for our community to come together for the common good. After understanding the severity of the issue, we immediately contacted our suppliers to see if they could help and the answer was YES,” said Griffiths in a press release. “We started the campaign with the goal to raise $50,000, and within less than 48 hours we surpassed this number. We will keep upping our goal so long as we can continue to access and distribute supplies. Our aim is to help bridge inventory gaps while larger government programs are put in place. The feedback for this campaign has truly been overwhelming and goes beyond a monetary value. Canadians are rallying together to support our nation’s selfless frontline workers.”
The funds raised thus far have gone towards the purchase of 100,000 units of supplies such as N95 face masks, surgical masks and gloves, all of which are urgently needed in the ongoing fight against COVID-19. Knix has also launched a PPE Request Form online, where hospitals, clinics and non-profits can submit requests for urgent supplies. Over 50 institutions have already submitted requests, and Knix has made their first PPE shipment to a partner organization in Alberta this week, with plans to fulfill requests across five provinces.
“This is a point in time that we will all look back on and ask ourselves if we did everything we could to help. Our PPE campaign is our way of saying thank you to all of the frontline workers that are tirelessly working day and night to fight COVID-19,” added Griffiths. “To them we say, you are not alone in this fight. We thank you and we support you.”
