Lady Gaga to Premiere New Netflix Documentary at TIFF 2017
During my early morning social media scroll, I noticed that Lady Gaga tweeted: “I’m known for being larger than life, but really I’m just… #GagaFiveFootTwo.” I paused on the poetic post, because I was surprised by the petite size of the bold singer — and I thought it was weird that she hashtagged her height.
Dots started connecting when I saw a press release for Netflix’s new Lady Gaga documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, in my inbox.
Gaga: Five Foot Two is a project by Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Chris Moukarbel, who spent one year with the pop star to create an “unfiltered, behind-the-scenes” portrait of the 31-year-old songstress and actress. The product is a film that looks at Gaga’s life as a pop star and a woman, “from struggles with relationships to health issues, from finding solace in her inner circle to conquering her insecurities.”
Gaga: Five Foot Two will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 22, and CBC reports the screening will be accompanied by a “an intimate onstage performance” by the singer. For those who’d rather watch a movie from the comfort of their couch, the doc launches on Netflix simultaneous with the TIFF premiere. Either way: don’t miss this one. From what we’ve seen on Gaga’s social media so far, Five Foot Two is going to be a must-watch movie this fall.
