Loewe Launches First Unisex Fragrance in its Ibiza Collection
Today, Loewe is unveiling its newest Ibiza collection, and with it comes the brand’s first fragrance under the yearly line.
Working with the brand’s in-house perfumer Nuria Cruelles, designer Jonathan Anderson created the limited edition unisex scent, which includes notes of warm ambergris, Madagascan mandarin oils, driftwood, frangipani flowers, vanilla absolute, Sulawesi patchouli oil, and fresh coconut water. “It reminds me of sun-kissed summers I spent in Ibiza as a teenager. Abandon knows no rules or borders, thereafter our fragrance is as irreverent and sun-drenched as it is universal.”
The fragrance is part of the brand’s new Paula’s Ibiza collection, which saw the designer mine the archives of ’70s store Paula’s to bring its “iconic prints inspired by the natural world” to life once again. The playful collection is brimming with bright hued pieces for men and women, as well as accessories.
In a note that accompanied the press release for the new collection, Anderson wrote, “I know this is not exactly the ideal time to launch products, but this is a project all the craftspeople at Loewe have been lovingly working on for some time, giving life to objects that are exquisitely lively and optimistic – as craft always is. This is a happy, undeniably escapist collection, conveyed through colourful and energetic images, and I thought it might cheer you up. As a visual feast, probably, or an aide-mémoire of better times to come. I hope you and your family are safe.”
For every piece sold from the collection from May until August, the brand will donate 40 euros to educational projects helping children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has already made an initial donation of 500,000 euros (approx. CAD$760,000).
