Marc Jacobs wears dad jeans while acting in his first film, Disconnect
It’s fitting that fashion’s reigning king of pop culture has finally swallowed it whole. Marc Jacobs adds acting to his never-ending list of talents with his first role in the upcoming film, Disconnect, in which he stars alongside Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, Alexander Skarsgard and Andrea Riseborough. The film plays out a series of cautionary nightmares that result after the characters’ various naughty online activities. Jacobs plays a 21st century pimp who hires and shelters children to talk about their sexual fantasies with paying adult consumers online. And while that may seem about as far from Jacobs’ life as could be, the 49 year-old designer seems more concerned with his sartorial transformation:
“I had these really tacky suburban disco shirts with crucifixes embroidered on them, and the worst fitting dad jeans – I never wear jeans anyway – but these were just bad and acid washed with flannel zip jackets sewn to the side. And they put big silver rings on my fingers and earrings. So they just couldn’t stop laughing,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Nobody would have recognized me at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Yonkers in my acid washed jean jacket with a hoodie attached and my dad jeans.”
Disconnect opens in select theatres on April 12, but for a little snippet of Marc Jacobs’ acting skills, watch the trailer here:
