Maria Borges Named the New Face of L’Oréal Paris
L’Oreal Paris is continuing to solidify itself as a diverse and inclusive beauty brand.
Shortly after launching its True Match “Your Skin” campaign, which included diverse cast members such as transgender activist Hari Nef, Chinese model Xiao Wen Ju and curve model Sabina Karlsson, the company announced a new ambassador to its roster: Maria Borges.
The 24-year-old model was first discovered at an Elite Model Angola contest in 2010, and has walked for Givenchy, Chanel, Balmain and Moschino. In 2015, Borges became the first black model to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show sporting natural locks, which she said was meant to “help women around the world embrace their natural beauty.”
She’s previously appeared in L’Oréal Paris campaigns for Paint and Hydra Genius, and will be featured in the upcoming Matte Obsession ad.
“I believe in the beauty of diversity and the empowering message that a girl who started from the bottom can be an international beauty symbol and be living proof that our dreams are valid, and the future ahead of us is bright,” Borges said in a statement, according to WWD.
We’d say she’s a true match for the beauty brand.
