What made you first want to be a designer?
Since I could remember, I had always wanted to be an artist of some sort. I think it was when I was 11 I wanted my art to be more functional, and I wanted people to be able to wear it , and since then I decided to become a fashion designer.
When you decided to become designer, what is one thing you had no idea you’d have to do?
I didn’t think that I would be the entrepreneur that I am today. Over time I have become more and more business-savvy.
If you could have anyone in the world wear your collection, who would it be?
Deepika Padukone
What is one place or location that inspires you?
India, in all its beauty.
What would you consider the highlight of your career so far?
I think the highlight is the fact that I am doing exactly what 11-year-old me dreamed of doing and making a living off of it. When I was younger, I was discouraged by a lot of people because they said I could never make a career out of this and that I would never succeed. It still feels so surreal that I have my own stores, an online store and people know the brand on a global scale. I have worked hard but still feel really fortunate for all of the success.
What are you most looking forward to about Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with RE\SETTM?
I am excited to launch my new collection “free spirit.” This collection is really close to my heart and am ready to share it with the world.
