Meghan and Harry Will Make Their First Appearance of 2020 at Canada House Tomorrow
OK, it’s official: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should just move right on over to Canada.
Most recently, the couple spent a large part of their Christmas/New Year break in our country. An official statement from the palace said of the decision at the time: “The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Prince Harry has visited Canada many times over the years, and the Duchess called it home for seven years while filming the legal drama, Suits. They are enjoying the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.” In response, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted, “Prince Harry, Meghan and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada. You’re among friends, and always welcome here.”
The royal family kept a largely low profile during the visit – save for one reported spotting during a hike – and it would seem that they were indeed able to enjoy the “private family time” the palace wrote that they had been seeking.
Now, the palace has announced that the pair will return from their two month-long break tomorrow with their first official engagement of 2020 – and it’s to London’s Canada House, no less.
According to the statement, the pair will meet with Janice Charette, the High Commissioner in Canada to the UK, in order to thank her and her staff “to thank them for the warm Canadian hospitality and support they received during their stay.” They will then see a special exhibition by Indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati at London House’s Canada Gallery before meeting the rest of the High Commission team.
Given her favouring of Canadian brands across her 2019 (and earlier!) appearances, we can only hope tomorrow will bring yet another stellar sartorial moment. Watch this space.
