Meghan Markle Just Gave Us All a Lesson in Block-Colour Dressing
Overnight, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out for her second appearance of the week at the One Young World summit in London. Today’s event saw Meghan host a round table with young leaders to discuss gender equality – and she brought along a surprise guest for the occasion.
Prince Harry arrived by Meghan’s side today in a surprise appearance, with the Duchess telling the panel, “In terms of gender equality, which is something I have championed for a long time, I think that conversation can’t happen without men being a part of it. So for this reason it made complete sense to let [Harry] join today so thank you for letting him crash the party.” Meghan also highlighted the fact that Harry has been working on women’s empowerment initiatives since 2013 and that the cause is equally important to him.
The meeting took place at the Queen’s home in Windsor, right down the road from the pair’s home. During the discussion, they heard how the young leaders are running programs in countries like South Africa, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Iraq to help empower and include females. Speaking on the objective for the discussion, Meghan (who is the vice president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust) said, “What you’re all capable of doing independently is incredible but when you work collectively, our intention today is to try to create somewhat of a task force to see what we can do within our communities and then use that knowledge to apply it to whatever is happening in all these other communities.”
For today’s event, Meghan opted for a chic tonal ensemble of fall-ready berry hues, pairing a V-neck sweater with the Boss Selrita leather pencil skirt and pointed pumps from Sarah Flint. It is the second time the Duchess has worn this skirt from Boss, sporting it in green for her first visit to Sussex last year. Coincidentally, the burgundy version has become a royal staple over the past 24 hours with Queen Letizia of Spain also wearing the piece in South Korea yesterday. If you’re keen to emulate Meghan’s style, the skirt is currently available on Nordstrom’s website for $815.
Both Meghan and Harry have a few more events scheduled before the end of the year, before they reportedly take a six-week break over Christmas to spend time as a family.
