Meghan Markle Rewears a Sentaler Favourite for Field of Remembrance Ceremony
This week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made what will be the last of their public appearances before they take a break from royal duties to spend time together over the holidays as a family. Today, the royal couple headed to Westminster Abbey to plant crosses in the Field of Remembrance. Prince Harry wore his military uniform while Meghan Markle wore a navy boucle coat by Sentaler and a matching fascinator by Philip Treacy.
“It is an honour to have the Duchess appear in Sentaler for such a meaningful occasion,” said the brand’s founder Bojana Sentaler. Interestingly, the wide-collar wrap coat has been named the ‘Meghan’ coat since the Duchess owns it in four different colours. This navy version, from the Fall/Winter 2015 collection, is one of her very first purchases from the Toronto-based brand.
While this event marks the Duchess’ first visit to the Field of Remembrance, it is Prince Harry’s seventh year of attendance. The event is just one of several the royal family will participate in leading up to Remembrance Day on November 11, which honours those who died in World War I. According to Sussex Royal, the couple’s official Instagram account, “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join Her Majesty The Queen and other Members of the Royal Family at various commemoration events, including the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and the Cenotaph.”
Yesterday, the Sussexes attended another event in support of the UK’s military families: they paid a visit to their neighbours in Windsor at a coffee morning for military families in a community centre located in the heart of the Army housing estate. “Every year during the month of November we pause to remember and honour all those who have served their country here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world. Their Royal Highnesses also wanted to show support for the families of service personnel who are currently deployed overseas,” explains their official social media post from the event.
Their next official engagements include the annual Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on November 9, and the Remembrance Day Service on November 10.
