Meghan Markle’s Mom and Oprah are Practically BFFs
Last month, Oprah Winfrey—a woman who is famous for many things, gardening among them—famously attended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding. She joined George and Amal Clooney on this list of celebrity guests that neither Harry nor Meghan have ever been seen/photographed/otherwise associated with. And yet, despite having no relationship with the bride or groom, it totally makes sense that Oprah was there. Oprah is a Queen! This is a royal occasion!
Just weeks before the big day, Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, was spotted leaving Oprah’s California castle with handfuls of bags. Which led to A LOT OF Internet questions. Some of them pertaining to their relationship. Most of them pertaining to what was in the bags. Finally, after long speculation, Oprah spoke out. At the premiere of her new series Love Is __, Oprah dished about her hang out sesh with Doria to Entertainment Tonight:
“The story was that Meghan’s mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts,” Oprah said. “You know what the gifts were? First of all, she’s great at yoga, so I said, ‘Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.’ So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch.”
What kind of lunch, exactly? Details please.
“She said, ‘I love kumquats,’ and I said, ‘I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?’ So it was a basket of kumquats, people. For all of the people who said I am getting her gifts and I’m trying to bribe her for an interview — they were kumquats. If kumquats can get you an interview, I’m all for it!”
Hey Oprah, we love kumquats too! Can we score a basket? I’ll give you an interview?!?
