Meghan Markle Trades Her Signature Trousers For a Nautical-Inspired Dress

For the past few months/as long as I can remember, we’ve been talking about how good Meghan Markle is at pants. She looks good in black skinny jeans. She looks good in tapered trouser pants. She looks good in billowing tuxedo pants. She looks good in a freaking two-piece suit. But today, Meghan Markle proved that sometimes casual events require slightly more oomph than a simple pair of trousers have to offer.

Wearing a nautical-inspired Altuzarra dress that retails for $1,995 USD — that hasn’t yet sold out! — she accompanied Prince Harry to meet with delegates of the Commonwealth Youth Forum, an organization that “promotes cross-cultural connections” and encourages youth leaders to reach consensus on policy decisions.

In his speech at the event, Prince Harry gave a major shout-out to his bride-to-be, saying, “I am incredibly grateful that the woman I am about to marry, Meghan, will be joining me in this work, of which she too is hugely excited to take part in.”

Markle paired her amply buttoned dress with a black blazer from Australian label Camilla and Marc, gold bar earrings from Birks and Tamara Mellon skyscraper heels.

In case you can’t get enough Meghan Markle news, we’ve also unearthed this ancient interview FASHION did with the actress in 2014, when she was still merely known as “one of Suits’ most ambitious characters.”
