Melania Trump Wears an American Designer Label at the Inauguration

The rumours were true! Melania Trump chose to wear an iconic American designer label for the Inauguration ceremonies on Friday, January 20. The 46-year-old incoming First Lady wore a custom Ralph Lauren Collection pale blue cashmere two-piece ensemble, featuring a short jacket with 3/4-length sleeves and a matching sheath dress. “With the historic swearing-in of her husband, Donald J. Trump, as the 45th President of the United States, the First Lady-elect will become America’s new First Lady wearing an American designer who transformed American fashion, Ralph Lauren,” her spokeswoman said.

The big reveal came early Friday morning as the Trumps headed to St. John’s Church, and then to the White House tea hosted by the Obamas. Mrs. Trump’s 60s-inspired outfit had news outlets (and Twitter!) buzzing about its resemblance to the late First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s 1961 Inauguration day look. As for accessories, Trump’s pale blue gloves, sizeable diamond studs and her signature stiletto heels completed the Inauguration day ensemble.

On Thursday evening, the incoming First Lady wore a Reem Acra shimmering gold full-length gown at the candlelight dinner at Union Station.
