Melt Cosmetics is Launching An Aaliyah-Inspired Collection—Really Soon
Last summer, we found out that M.A.C Cosmetics would be launching their #AaliyahforMAC collection in 2018, after literal years of Aaliyah fans asking for one, via a petition that garnered tens of thousands of signatures. It’s allegedly set to be released this summer.
However, it seems that another brand has beat M.A.C to it. Melt Cosmetics just announced the launch of the #MeltBabyGirl collection—which comes out this Friday (!!!).
Behind the indie, Instagram-famous brand is co-founder and CEO Lora Arellano, who you may also know as the makeup artist behind some of Rihanna’s most iconic looks. You can read our interview with Arellano here.
Melt’s BabyGirl collection appears to be made up of five eyeshadows (in red, pink and coral hues), likely a nod to the cover art of Aaliyah’s third and final album, Aaliyah, otherwise known to fans as The Red Album.
While Melt hasn’t explicitly cited Aaliyah as the inspo behind the album, the eyeshadow names make it obvious.
They’re reportedly called Dust Yourself Off, More Than a Lover, Come Over, So Dope, and Baby Girl.
The collection will be available on meltcosmetics.com on March 23rd and the set will retail for $58 USD.
