From babes in arms to an elegant senior, the runways were a family affair over the weekend at Milan Fashion Week. Dolce & Gabbana celebrated motherhood with crayon prints and a backdrop of women and kids (including 11 models who appeared with their own children), while Irving Penn muse Benedetta Barzini, now 71, closed the Antonio Marras show in an embellished floral coat. Both were uplifting experiences that seemed to say that fashion is for one and all. And what exactly will we all want to be wearing in the days ahead? Browse the gallery below for our roundup of the top nine Milan Fashion Week trends for Fall 2015.

Patchwork
Etro Fall 2015
There wasn’t a scrap of wool, fur, or leather wasted in Milan. Anna Wintour wore a patchwork leather coat to the Dolce & Gabbana show, but there was plenty more at MSGM, Etro, Ferragamo, Antonio Marras and Pucci, among many others. It’s all part of the ‘70s trend that is still going strong, especially with endless shades of brown.

Prada Fall 2015
Obscure details and mystery effects kept us all guessing, from Prada’s spongey suits (they were actually double jersey) to the plastic-looking whipstitching at Tods (patent leather). Crystals were veiled in lace at Bottega Veneta, threads seemed to poke through seams at Sportmax, and pleats offered a variety of surprises as models strutted at Ferragamo and Etro.

Pucci Fall 2015
Micro sequins and other forms of shine are still rocking but the newest way to sparkle is with Lurex. It was woven into striped pants at Pucci and dotted sweater vests at Bottega Veneta, and worked into a tinsel fringe at MSGM.
