Milan: September 25
By Susie Sheffman
Sitting here anticipating the start of Dolce & Gabbana, one of the surefire highlights of the week—I secretly love the wait—it’s the same each season and I’ve come to relish the scene. In a few minutes J.Lo, Rihanna and Matthew McConaughey will have the paparazzi flashbulbs going wild.
But what I love most, and look forward to every six months, is my favorite opera (it only took me 10 seasons to finally find out that it’s Cavalleria Rusticana). It swells up in the pitch black theatre to a feverish pitch that gets me crazy every time, then BOOM! The curtain rises, the lights blaze, the disco beat starts and the girls (usually the cream of the crop) come striding out, gorgeous and full of personality and bravado. This is a FASHION show with a capital F!!
I hope the clothes thrill me half as much as the wait!
This morning’s DSquared was another great show from our hometown faves Dean and Dan Caten. These guys sure know how to put on a show, complete with stage set and theme—today’s was Charlie’s Angels go to modeling school! A really fun, super-sexy ’70s throwback to the Angels, Bianca Jagger and Charlie Girl! Loved the three-piece ’70s denim pantsuit.
Dolce is due to start any second. Next it’s Fendi and Versace. Not a bad day in Milano!
