Miranda Kerr’s Skincare Line Kora Organics is Now in Sephora Canada
Supermodel Miranda Kerr’s skincare brand KORA Organics is the first certified organic one available at Sephora, which she launched in store today at the Toronto Eaton Centre. Being certified organic is a pain in the butt but it gives the brand so much integrity,” she says.
Kerr used her own money she made from modeling to found the brand back in 2009 back in her native Australia. She’s passionately involved in every step of the production process—right down to writing the copy on the packaging—which incorporates the healing powers of crystals and aromatherapy, both very personal modalities for her.
“The crystal element – my fascination started when my grandfather was a house mover,” says Kerr. “When he did that he would find these big geode crystals and bring them back to my grandma, and I was so impressed by them.”
Kerr’s fascination with the power of crystals continued on throughout her life so when it came time create her brand, infusing them in the brand was super important to her. At first, any water used in KORA formulas was filtered through rose quartz but today, every product comes in contact with rose quartz during the manufacturing process. Even the Noni Radiant Eye Oil has rose quartz on the rollerball. People might not believe in it, but it’s not going to hurt you and it’s something I feel adds a little magic to the product,” she says.
The range also includes Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil, a blend of rose otto, sandalwood, ylang ylang and cedarwood with the exclamation “LOVE FOR ALL” sweetly inscribed on the bottle. It was created for Kerr by her aromatherapist when she separated from her ex-husband Orlando Bloom.
“I felt super, knocked-over-the-head depressed and I didn’t think it was possible because I grew up really happy and vibrant as a kid,” says Kerr. “One of the tools I used to get me back together was this oil. I would put it on my pulse points and it just centered me and made me feel more nurtured. I was like, ‘I have to have this available for everyone!’, because it was something that really helped me.”
Nowadays, Kerr’s family members are her guinea pigs. She puts the Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil on her 7-year-old son when he’s nervous about doing something at school or feeling anxious and overwhelmed and the Noni Glow Face Balm on her 4-month-old son. And her husband, Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., also uses the Noni Glow Face Oil every morning and carries it in his bag daily.
“When I first met him he had dry skin. He’s a cute guy but I asked him, ‘Do you look in the mirror? Can I help you?’,” Kerr says of Spiegel. “But I gave him the Noni Glow Face Oil and he was like ‘Holy crap this really works!’, and I was like ‘Yeah I’m not playing around here.'”
