Euphoric, apocalyptic, and deliciously luxurious: Last night’s Denis Gagnon show was the highlight of Fashion Week.

At Fullum and Holt’s industrial headquarters, the models worked the concrete catwalk to intense opera melodies, post-punk and pop clad in Gagnon’s usual black minimalist uniforms–leather dresses, jersey tops, leggings and voluminous jackets–but this time the crystal and sequin embroidery on the pants, dresses and models’ heads added a refreshing touch of class. Luxuriant fox furs were wrapped around the neck and even used for asymetrical dresses.

I’m crazy about Harakiris oversized Lego-and-crystal brooches, necklaces and bangles, which added a maximum of pizzaz to the show. Denis Gagnon’s collection was everybody’s coup de coeur, I noted as I battled my way through the crowd to get a hold of a vodka tonic as Montreal’s most beautiful people danced to Thomas Von Party’s sexy electro beats.
