Montreal: Fall 2009 Fashion Week preview
The hell with cold! I’m putting on my four-inch heels, my chapka and my fringe skirt for Montreal Fashion Week (March 2 to 5, semainemodemontreal.ca), returning to Marché Bonsecours with a line-up that’s more daring and exciting than ever.
As not many of you may know, MFW is an event put on by a non-profit organization called Sensation Mode (sensationmode.com) and I have the inside, you see, with Sensation Mode, since my gorgeous BFF (as I like to call her; her real name is Arianne LaSalle) is the Program Coordinator for the event and works really hard to put on a good show. Without a doubt, I got the scoop (well, from her) and here’s a peek at what you can expect this season.
First and foremost, everyone is delighted to have Philippe Dubuc back presenting a collection (his first at MFW since 2005). After that, a warm night will come with Harricana par Mariouche, renowned for their recycled fur, who are presenting with Ça va de Soi, renowned for their knitwear. M0851 is presenting their impressive take on leather, which is sold all over Europe and at Le Bon Marché in Paris, in a press conference/cocktail reception. Returning names include Helmer, Marie Saint Pierre and Soïa & Kyo and new names are always joining the line-up.
Finally, the prince of darkness, Denis Gagnon, is throwing one of the most anticipated parties of the year at the Fullum and Holt headquarters on March 5 to highlight his bag partnership with the label. Apparently it’s a long way from Old Port, so it will be a far walk in a pair of four-inch heels, but it will definitely be worth the pain.
Stay tuned, more about it all in the next blog!
