You know summer is officially here when:

a) the Main is closed for the weekend and you can smell the chow mein from miles away.

b) You and your friends are trying desperately to find a new friend with a pool.

c) the Festival Mode et Design is finally taking downtown in hostage! From June 17 to 20, get ready for full fashion and music marathon. Here’s my personal to do list for the festival this year:First off, from the extensive lists of fashion shows–Station 8, Guido & Mary, Matinique, Parasuco–I’ll be sure not to miss Barilà on Wednesday and Valérie Dumaine on Thursday–I can’t wait to see what she has in store! On Saturday, Orange Orange, Misteur Valaire and Omnikrom (all Montreal music acts) are a safe bet for ultimate fun in the afternoon at the Crème à la glace, limonade sucrée! event. I can promise you this one is going to pop and if you stick around a bit longer, Plastik Patrick, one of my favorite DJs of all time, is hosting Fashion Musique presents Couture Lingerie, a night full of colorful surprises and secret guests. Finally, the festival has created a gigantic walk-in closet in an open-air concept for you to shop til you drop. La Boutique will be open every day from noon to 11 p.m. selling goods from Canadian designers–think Ophélie Hats, Myriam Laroche and Grob Collection. Things that make you go mmmm!
