MTV VMAs 2015: The best 16 beauty looks on the red carpet
Given that the MTV Video Music Awards are the unofficial opportunity for celebrities to shock experiment with their wardrobe, A-list stars generally keep it low key in the beauty department. You know, so the attention stays below the chin. But that doesn’t mean the wow factor isn’t still there, thanks to a number of the ladies getting a head start on some of our fave fall beauty trends.
Miley Cyrus and FKA Twigs may have turned heads with a punchy red lips, but majority of the star attendees much rather draw our attention to their eyes with their eyeliner A-game. (Though, Cyrus did rock a blue liner and red lip combo.) Take Taylor Swift for example. The “Bad Blood” singer and leader of her #Squad channelled her alter ego from her music video and worked kohl-rimmed eyes that featured feline flicks at the ends. Talk about drama. But if eyeliner wasn’t on the celebs’ agenda, you can bet they captivated us with their doll-like lashes. (See: Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid)
Over in the hairstyle department, ponytails and wet hair ruled the red carpet. While Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian worked the pulled-back hairdos (Spears wore hers in a messy multicoloured version and Kardashian in a sleek fashion), others stepped out in this season’s trickiest hair trend: the wet hair. If you’re hoping to gain some inspiration, look no further than last night’s summer party. Channel Hailee Steinfeld‘s slightly damp centre-part look to work the trend in a subtle fashion. Or upgrade your ordinary ponytail with a slicked-back version à la Rita Ora? But if you’re ready to step out in something more fashion-forward, we suggest you try Demi Lovato’s run-your-fingers-through-your-hair kind-of look that screams fuss-free and rock ‘n’ roll chic at the same time.
