MTV VMAs 2017: The Best Fashion Looks From The Red Carpet
Epic VMA moments like the Drake and Rihanna kiss and Britney’s “Slave For You” snake dance are hard to top, but when Katy Perry is hosting and Taylor Swift is premiering the video for her new single “Look What You Made Me Do”, you tune in. Performances by Kendrick Lamar (who has the most nominations), The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony and Rod Stewart are just the icing on the cake.
On the topic of the fashion…Lorde. Mean it. Lorde! Did you do a double take when FASHION’s cover star appeared on the MTV Video Awards Red Carpet in a feathery, lavender floor-length Monique Lhullier gown? It was the kind of dress you’d expect at a film premiere, not a music show, and it seemed so glamorous for the young singer. Lorde is entering a new stage in terms of her music and clearly that includes fashion too. TBH, the MTV VMA’s 2017 Red Carpet was a breath of fresh air. This is a celeb category that normally aims to stand-out as opposed to solicit admiring sighs. Another surprise was Katy Perry who ‘shocked’ for being so chic in a white one-shoulder Stephane Rolland dress with geometric cutouts. And then there was Amber Rose who arrived with 21 Savage in a sheer, curve hugging Yousef Alijasmi dress while wearing her hair long, luscious and dark. We had no idea her smile was so pretty (#makeunder ftw). I had a similar sigh looking at Yara Shahidi in a one-shoulder bronze gown that made her look like a statuette. One of our favourite young celebs, for sure.
