Neon Makeup is Taking Over Instagram, and it’s Lit AF

For all of you who were disappointed by Kim Kardashian’s declaration that she was over highlighting, this new way to light up your face may make you feel a bit better.

Neon makeup is the of-the-moment beauty trend on Instagram, with MUAs and beauty vloggers and bloggers creating eye and lip looks inspired by the fluorescent lights.

The cool thing is, no blacklight is required to get this neon effect. As per vlogger Kristen Leanne’s YouTube tutorial, you can get the look by using stark white eyeliner, then applying and blending a bright-coloured eyeshadow or liner on either side of the it.

And neon makeup isn’t just limited to a regular cat eye or lip liner — some Instagrammers have gotten extra creative with their looks, applying the makeup on their cut crease or in the shape of a heart on their eyelids and lips.

One Instagrammer even created a whole skeletal look using the technique.

Just another way to rock an ’80s-inspired beauty look, the cool girl way.
