If you were following last week’s couture shows in Paris, chances are high that you noticed the embellished head masks donned by models on the runway at Maison Martin Margiela. Indeed, the high fashion face armor was so intriguing that it almost distracted us from the slew of crystal pendants and cuffs subtly wrapped around the arms of the couture-clad models. The understated display was a first peek at the Crystalactite collection, the product of a new design alliance between Maison Martin Margiela and Swarovski.

The dazzling collection takes its name from the combination of crystal and matte white resin. White is, after all, the fashion label’s signature colour, so it’s only appropriate that the innocent hue be the base of the new collection’s bracelets, rings and necklaces. The sharp, untamed shape of the crystal clusters is inspired by the natural structure of stalactites—how edgy.

With prices ranging from $1000 for a pendant to $1285 for a bracelet, the collection’s glittery pieces, due to go on sale in November, are likely to join the ranks of highly-coveted street style accessories. More affordable is an unreleased three-piece Maison Martin Margiela for Atelier Swarovski collection, WWD reports, which will retail at around half the price of the higher-end line.

And for further jewellery-ogling opportunities, an album titled “Crystalactite on the catwalk” was recently posted on the Maison Martin Margiela Facebook page, full of rich detail shots of the collection.
