Michael Kors’ show notes summed up spring 2015 in three words: Blue skies ahead. Impressive. Kind of like the day’s line-up of heavy-hitters, which started with Captain America, Michael Kors and ended with Proenza Schouler’s dynamic duo, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Here are four standout looks from the day that we think will give you super powers (they have the ability to transform you and your closet). Two words: Fashion kryptonite.
1. Michael Kors’ floral embroidered crop top and matching midi skirt – Besides the lovely full skirt that swished down the runway on model Caroline Trentini, the colour combo–indigo and daffodil yellow–and 3D embroidery had us crushing hard on this collection.
2. Boss’s modern take on the white shirt/black skirt. From the bib-detail and the week’s chicest sleeve length (just above the elbow) to the textured pencil skirt that perfectly skimmed the knee, Jason Wu’s sophomore collection for Boss broke the glass ceiling for style.
3. Proenza Schouler’s sunset-hued python print topper. This is a piece that will put you on the fashion radar; in fact, you’ll probably break the damn thing due to your newfound extreme chicness. Throw it on over anything (yes, anything–even your PJs) and you’re guaranteed an all-access pass to the inner circle of cool. You’re welcome.
4. Okay, so it’s not technically a “look” but jewellery designer Monique Péan’s geometric signature ring in 18 carat recycled yellow gold is the ideal finishing touch to any look. It’s contemporary yet timeless; a conversation starter; and for a larger scale piece, it still manages to evoke quiet luxury. Clearly, the former investment banker at Goldman Sachs-turned-fine jewellery designer knows a thing or two about making smart investments.
