Nicole Richie vs Katy Perry: Which star does candy-coloured hair best?
Brightly coloured hair, don’t care! It took less than a day for Katy Perry’s new “slime green” dye job to make an appearance on the red carpet and we have to say… we’re pretty into it. Sure, the ends may look just a touch fried and if you squint you could easily mistake her hair for part of the background foliage, but her almost-neon style is pretty eye-catching and, well, flattering.
Perry was out with a few other notable names (Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie) to support California congressional candidate Marianne Williamson. Fun fact: Williamson, who is best known as the author of the Oprah-approved A Return to Love officiated Elizabeth Taylor’s last wedding, which was held at Neverland Ranch in 1991. Needless to say, Williamson has some pretty influential people in her rolodex, hence the star-studded press event.
But back to the fashion and beauty! Perry wore a floral-print Suno dress that featured a crop cut-out and colours that complemented her new hair perfectly. We’re willing to bet that Kim Kardashain wished she was in that Suno dress—which is basically Kim’s new signature look to a tee—and not wearing a black satin pantsuit that just seemed so 2012 Kardashian.
Also serving as a style complement to Perry’s dress was Nicole Richie, or, more specifically, her hair. She’s been rocking the light purple hue for a while now and it’s statement hair at its best. While other purple hair lovers tend to keep things muted with shades of grey (hello, Kelly Osborne) Richie’s hair looks like a fresh swatch of Pantone’s Radiant Orchid. However, unlike Perry’s brightly printed outfit choice, Richie kept the rest of her look monochromatic in an all-white ensemble. Hey, when the hair is that good, might as well keep the focus on it! (Also, some hair math to consider: Katy Perry + Nicole Richie = Kesha?)
