Oprah-Branded Mashed Potatoes are Hitting Supermarkets this Fall
Oprah Winfrey is making moves to takeover your supermarket aisle with her OWN (haha) line of refrigerated soups and side dishes. And it’s called — wait for it — O, That’s Good!.
The billionaire media maven and Weight Watchers frontman has teamed up with grocery giant Kraft Heinz to create four “flavourful soups” and four “savoury sides.” But that’s not all: each of the eight comfort food items has a “TWIST”. Well your baked potato soup comes served with a “TWIST” of cauliflower; your three-cheese pasta comes served with a “TWIST” of squash; and your tomato soup comes served with a “TWIST” of celery and carrot.
Now, you may be thinking, “what the heck is a TWIST?” And like, same. I don’t think there’s a literal swirl of squash swirled through your pasta — I think it’s just mixed in. But with Oprah, who knows!!
“I love healthy foods and eating from my garden,” Winfrey said in a statement. “When Kraft Heinz approached me for a food line, what got my attention is making nutritious comfort foods more accessible to everyone. This product line is real, delicious food with a twist. You’ll feel good about serving it for your family.”
Only Oprah could make me excited about vegetables, and only Oprah could make me willing to try pre-made mashed potatoes — the one packaged food I once swore I could never eat. Because if Oprah’s putting her name on it, I’m putting it in my mouth. Oprah’s a B.I.L.L.I.O.N.A.I.R.E. (and an unflawed human) — she doesn’t just put her name on anything.
Soups are said to retail for $4.99, while sides will go for $4.49. People Magazine reported that the O, That’s Good! products will begin appearing in grocery stores in early August, and will be available across the United States by October.
Sadly, it’s unclear whether or not the products will be available in Canada. So I may or may not be making a trip over the border come fall — Oprah-branded ready-made food is that worth it.
