Oprah Winfrey And Others Appear in Vancouver to Support of David Foster’s Annual Fundraiser
Vancouver isn’t known for star-studded red carpets, but B.C. born and bred music producer David Foster drew the big names Saturday night. For his 30th anniversary Miracle Gala and Concert, at Rogers Arena Oprah, Steven Tyler and Bo Derek all walked the carpet—purple, in this case. As did Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Jay Leno, Dr. Phil, Katharine McPhee and others.
David’s daughters, Sara and Erin Foster of Barely Famous, weren’t performing that night, but Sara told us if she were, it’d be “Heartbreaker” by Mariah Carey. “I was singing it last night, so I know all the lyrics.”
Carly Rae Jepsen, on the other hand, did perform, three hits “Run Away with You,” “I Really Like You,” and “Call Me Baby,” to her hometown crowd. Steven Tyler, Matteo Bocelli, Laura Bretan and The Tenors were also on the bill.
Former prime minister Brian Mulroney attended too, as he did the charity’s first fundraiser in Vancouver back in 1987 and noted its humbler beginnings: “It was a softball game.”
The event raised $10.2 million for the David Foster Foundation, which helps
cover expenses for families with children receiving organ transplants.
