Oscars 2015 beauty: 20 celebrities whose hair and makeup reminded us that spring is on its way
Another awards season has come and gone, and with Hollywood’s biggest night of the year behind us, we’ve rounded up the best Oscars 2015 beauty looks from the red carpet. From Lupita Nyong’o signature glittery eye and bright lip still going strong, to Jennifer Lopez‘s shockingly frosty pink lip paired with a ponytail high enough to make Ariana Grande nervous, the red carpet did not disappoint.
Glossy lips were by far the biggest makeup trend of the night, and it’s been some time since we’ve been able to say that. While matte shades were still present (like Margot Robbie‘s perfect orange-y hue), they certainly didn’t dominate the red carpet like they have been at other award shows. Chrissy Teigen and Naomi Watts kept the dark-lipped look alive with their wine-stained shades, and leading ladies like Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard had us feeling nostalgic for, dare we say it, plain ol’ lip gloss. Call it yearning for spring, but we couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the pretty pink lips of our favourite A-listers. Jennifer Lopez‘s cotton candy pink shade was enough to make us want to bring our favourite bubblegum flavoured gloss out of hiding.
On the hair front, Teigen went for Old Hollywood waves, Gwyneth Paltrow and Karolina Kurkova opted for more severe, slicked back looks, but the rest of the women on the red carpet went easy, breezy and effortlessly cool. From Witherspoon’s pretty waves to Dakota Johnson‘s simple ponytail, it’s becoming easier and easier to copy the ‘dos of our favourite actresses. The best example of hair that’s the equivalent of an “Oh, this old thing?” outfit was none other than the Cool Girl herself, Rosamund Pike, whose tossed back updo was as romantic as it was laid-back.
