by FASHION StaffThe warmer weather has (finally) arrived, and FASHION‘s beauty team is gearing up for those summer days spent outdoors, whether it be in the city, at the beach or by the pool.

1/16
Summer Must-Haves (City)
MyChelle Sun Shield Clear Stick SPF 50
($12, mychelle.com)
“I ride my bike to work so I like to keep one of these on me at all times to swipe on the backs of my hands and any other spots that tend to get neglected. This year I’m trying one by MyChelle.” — Lesa Hannah, beauty director

Summer Must-Haves (City)
Ren Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist
($48, Sephora)
“Related to my two-wheeled commute is the fact that I’m in the line of fire of car exhaust. I’m not totally convinced this mist is preventing particulate matter from adhering to me, but I do feel better for having used it. ” — L.H.

Summer Must-Haves (City)
Gelish Polish in Tahiti Hottie
($23, nailpolishcanada.com)
“I’m personally offended when I see unpedicured feet in open toed shoes, so my feet would never see the light of day unless they’re painted. I like a juicy, bright raspberry shade.” — L.H.

Summer Must-Haves (City)
Redken No Blow Dry Just Right Cream for Medium Hair
($24, Available at salons.)
“I’m also super into products designed for creating texture without the heat of a blowdryer, so this year I plan on using this Redken one for added grit and to reduce frizz on my crown.” -L.H

Summer Must-Haves (Beach)
Sun Bum SPF 30 Original Sunscreen Lotion
($16, trustthebum.com)
“There’s such a wide range of Sun Bum products to love (sunscreen sprays, lotions, lip balms) in SPF 15, 30 and 50, and the entire line is crazy affordable, so it’s no surprise this brand tops my list. But the thing that keeps me coming back is the scent. That coconut-y, summer-y, sunscreen-y smell. You know the one.” — Suzie Michael, associate beauty editor

Summer Must-Haves (Beach)
Herbivore Travel Sea Mist Texturizing Salt Spray / Coconut
($16, herbivorebotanicals.com)
“I never drank the salt spray kool-aid, and as someone with wavy hair, that’s always been shocking to people. But I could never get into the crunchy feeling most salt sprays left behind, since salt is as dehydrating when you put it on your hair as it is when you eat it. Enter: Herbivore. The salt spray is made with Aloe Vera and coconut pulp, both of which are hydrating, so it balances everything out. And again, the SMELL.” — S.M.
9/16
Summer Must-Haves (Beach)
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15
($29, fresh.com)
“I love stick lip balms at the beach (as opposed to pots, tubes, what have you) because they’re not as messy. What’s worse than using sand-covered fingers to apply balm? Nothing! I honestly just shuddered at the thought. Also, this one doesn’t melt in my pocket as easily as other stick balms and has SPF in it, which, duh.” — S.M.
10/16
Summer Must-Haves (Beach)
Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow
($33, Sephora)
“I wear highlighter every day, and it’s almost always either in liquid or stick form. I’m always after a glow that’s a little tacky and wet-looking, rather than like, Instagram-y, you know? This one is a warm gold shade. However, it really is kind of sticky, so if you’re applying it on top of foundation, use your fingers, because swiping it on from the tube will take some of your makeup off.” — S.M.
11/16
Summer Must-Haves (Beach)
OPI Nail Polish in Do You Take Lei Away?
($13, Hudson's Bay)
“My favourite nude polish. I love a good nude before a beach day because it’s a chic way of hiding the fact that there’s mountains of sand underneath your fingernails.” — S.M.
12/16
Summer Must-Haves (Pool)
Activated Sun Protector™ Water-Light Lotion For Face & Body SPF 30
($36, kiehls.ca)
“I picked up this product at the duty free store in the airport when I realized I didn’t pack sunscreen before going on a Mediterranean cruise (smart move, I know). It’s super easy to apply and doesn’t irritate my sensitive/reactive skin, which is always a bonus. And though it is a lower SPF, as I do like to have a tan, I do recommend you always be mindful of the dangers of prolonged exposure to the sun, and find the best SPF for your skin type.” — Madelyn Chung, contributor.
13/16
Summer Must-Haves (Pool)
La Roche Posay Posthelios Melt-In Gel
($30, caretobeauty.com)
“After spending a day in the sun, I make sure to hydrate and soothe my skin with this lipid-restoring gel cream.” — M.C.
14/16
Summer Must-Haves (Pool)
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey
($29, Sephora)
“I’ve only ever had one sunburn in my life, and it was on my lips. Since experiencing that trauma, I’ve been extremely mindful to always wear a lip product with SPF. While laying poolside, I like this tinted version which is a total MLBB shade. And yes, it does have sun protection, but due to Canadian labelling rules, it’s just not disclosed on Canadian packaging.” — M.C.
15/16
Summer Must-Haves (Pool)
Victoria's Secret Beach Hair Wave Spray
($14, amazon.com)
“I may have sleek, straight Asian hair, but this sea salt spray gives it the perfect beachy texture. I simply spray it all over, then put my hair up into a messy bun while lounging by the pool. Once I take the bun out, I’m left with perfectly mussed up hair that smells amazing.” — M.C.
16/16
Summer Must-Haves (Pool)
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara
($11, well.ca)
“I don’t wear makeup when going to the pool, aside from a brow gel and waterproof (obv.) mascara. Maybelline’s Lash Sensational continues to be one of my fave mascaras ever, and for the price, you really can’t go wrong.” — M.C.
