“I never drank the salt spray kool-aid, and as someone with wavy hair, that’s always been shocking to people. But I could never get into the crunchy feeling most salt sprays left behind, since salt is as dehydrating when you put it on your hair as it is when you eat it. Enter: Herbivore. The salt spray is made with Aloe Vera and coconut pulp, both of which are hydrating, so it balances everything out. And again, the SMELL.” — S.M.

“I love stick lip balms at the beach (as opposed to pots, tubes, what have you) because they’re not as messy. What’s worse than using sand-covered fingers to apply balm? Nothing! I honestly just shuddered at the thought. Also, this one doesn’t melt in my pocket as easily as other stick balms and has SPF in it, which, duh.” — S.M.

“I wear highlighter every day, and it’s almost always either in liquid or stick form. I’m always after a glow that’s a little tacky and wet-looking, rather than like, Instagram-y, you know? This one is a warm gold shade. However, it really is kind of sticky, so if you’re applying it on top of foundation, use your fingers, because swiping it on from the tube will take some of your makeup off.” — S.M.

“My favourite nude polish. I love a good nude before a beach day because it’s a chic way of hiding the fact that there’s mountains of sand underneath your fingernails.” — S.M.

“I picked up this product at the duty free store in the airport when I realized I didn’t pack sunscreen before going on a Mediterranean cruise (smart move, I know). It’s super easy to apply and doesn’t irritate my sensitive/reactive skin, which is always a bonus. And though it is a lower SPF, as I do like to have a tan, I do recommend you always be mindful of the dangers of prolonged exposure to the sun, and find the best SPF for your skin type.” — Madelyn Chung, contributor.

“After spending a day in the sun, I make sure to hydrate and soothe my skin with this lipid-restoring gel cream.” — M.C.

“I’ve only ever had one sunburn in my life, and it was on my lips. Since experiencing that trauma, I’ve been extremely mindful to always wear a lip product with SPF. While laying poolside, I like this tinted version which is a total MLBB shade. And yes, it does have sun protection, but due to Canadian labelling rules, it’s just not disclosed on Canadian packaging.” — M.C.

“I may have sleek, straight Asian hair, but this sea salt spray gives it the perfect beachy texture. I simply spray it all over, then put my hair up into a messy bun while lounging by the pool. Once I take the bun out, I’m left with perfectly mussed up hair that smells amazing.” — M.C.
