Paris: Day seven

Shown: Chloé Fall 2008. Photography by Peter Stigter.
Back to the Accessories Show on Saturday morning with my Starbucks in tow (at this point in the week, caffeine and gel foot cushions are a fashion girl’s best friend). Ran over to the Chloé show and managed to squeeze into an amazing seat (perfect view of Anna and Bee) before the show began.
Beautiful show at Chloé–lots of diaphanous layers, sheer lace, asymmetrical hemlines and pretty print dresses. Best in show: patent wedge ankle boots, exotic skin extras, embroidery detail, paisley patterns. Fave piece: Romantic-inspired frock with swingy flounces and waterfalls of beading. Slightly flapper and oh so fabulous. Colour trend of the moment: midnight blue. Definitely the new black for fall. See photos from this show.
Grabbed a cab to the Pierre Hardy showroom and took countless snappies of the new shoes, boots and bags for fall. Get ready for lots of metallic accents, glossy patent trim, graphic print, coloured suede and lots of thick ankle straps. Juicy, juicy, juicy.
Flew over to Hermès and settled into my front-row seat. I, and my poor little feet, felt très, très bien. Show was steeped in heritage and tradition, from the mile-long Oriental carpet on the runway to the scarf print on messenger bags and Crayola-bright petite Kelly bags. Fall must-haves: Camel swing coat and over-the-knee boots. My fall must-have: short shirred mink coat. Perfect with dresses or denim. Best trend to try: Piles of bangles–stack them up in thick and thin versions. The models’ hair was stick straight, glossy and gorgeous. Everything that I strive for while standing in front of the mirror morning after morning. See photos from this show.
Took the Metro to what seemed like the other side of the earth–really just outside Paris–to the John Galliano show. One peek at the Xanadu-inspired set with half-naked men wearing wings, Asian ponds and buddha statues with gold accents strewn everywhere–it was obvious that J.G. has once again outdone his fabulous little self. Show opened with Michael Jackson’s ’80s anthem Billie Jean and eventually mixed into a little Rihanna. Ideal, as she was seated in the front row looking flawless with a capital F.
Show was a flurry of drop-crotch pants, fur, sky-high platforms in juicy colours, elaborate Dr. Seuss-style hats and kimono-inspired gowns. Best accents: fluorescent plumes, fringe, oversized bejewelled pendants, knee socks, coloured kabuki-style makeup and pearls peeking out from open-toe sandals. Colour palette was a technicolour dream and I absolutely adored the madcap mixes of coral, turquoise, gold, yellow, blush and brights. Overall mood: Fashion ecstasy for the stylish soul. See photos from this show.
People are buzzing that Chris Brown attended the show but alas, I cannot spy my boy crush through the packed crowd. Can’t believe tomorrow is my last day here, good thing though, as I only have enough Euros and Shiseido eye treatment masks left for one final hurrah.
À bientôt. Xo
