Paris Fashion Week: 5 standout looks from yesterday’s Fall 2015 shows

Paris Fashion Week must know it’s coming to an end because designers have been unfurling the hits like woah. Yesterday’s shows were a lesson in wearable, fabulous clothes—giving the people what they want, shall we say?

Hermès
New Hermès designer Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski had big shoes to fill after Christoph Lemaire left the brand last season, something she accomplished (and then some) with yesterday’s collection of sumptuous leathers, primary hues, knits and perfect outerwear. She kept nods to Hermès heritage gentle, artfully working in the house’s silk scarves and harness motifs through an immaculate collection.

Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney has the market cornered on beautifully easy clothes, with Fall 2015 being just the latest addition to her canon of #iwokeuplikethis-worthy pieces. Every single look was a winner, from the buttery side-slung knits to the perfect wrap coats and single off-shoulder dresses. “That looks like what everyone wants to wear at fashion week” my seatmate exclaimed. Yup.

Sacai
If there’s anything that could get us excited for another season of cold weather, it’s Sacai’s latest collection of epic outerwear, punctuated with fun furs, drug rugs and the kind of clever zips and layers that have become a signature of the brand.

Giambattista Valli
The Valli of the past may have been all about the frilly dresses (recent case in point: Rihanna at the Grammys) but his new silhouette is all about the flared pant. Equally flattering if you’re indeed that kind of Valli girl (you know, the bodily #blessed kind) and newly embellished with mosaic sequins and vibrant hues.

Saint Laurent
Punk, patchwork and plenty of sass—what else would you expect from the new Saint Laurent? Hedi Slimane continued to flex his skill for giving well-heeled groupies-in-training what they want, unleashing his latest version of baby dolls, moto jackets and crystal-encrusted tights. And while I’ll leave my own personal feelings about Slimane out of it for now, there’s a quote in the commercials for E! network’s new show The Royals that sums this up perfectly: “I’m just a bitch with money and power, but I do make it look good.”
