Parts of Netflix’s New Comedy Series Are Going to Be Taped at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival

Netflix’s latest comedy series is an ambitious one, bringing together 47 comedians from different parts of the world for a truly international comedic experience. With stand-up comics hailing from countries as far as New Zealand, India and South Africa, the series will be taped in seven different languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Dutch, German and English.

“Few things are better than discovering a new comedian you love,” said Lisa Nishimura, VP of Original Documentary and Comedy at Netflix. “With this event, we’re creating a true comedy festival experience for our members where they can scour the globe from home to find some of the freshest voices in comedy.”

Each comedian will perform a 30-minute set, some of which are being taped at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal later this month. Other sets are scheduled to be taped in Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Mumbai, Berlin and Amsterdam, and all the episodes of the series are expected to be released at once in 2019.
