Pink Tartan Spring 2016: Your cheat sheet to the beach-ready collection

Book your beach vacay because Pink Tartan took care of the packing. Designer Kim Newport-Mimran‘s Spanish seaside “stripe epiphany” brought brightly patterned hand-fringed pants and ponchos, that could easily double as bathing suit cover ups, to the runway. Paired with a vintage pattern found in Palm Beach, pliable raffia top coats and washable scuba fabric dresses, there were plenty of options to fill your suitcase. She even recommends wearing her vegan leather pants on the plane.
Trend Notes

Taking notes from Prada, Pink Tartan’s spring suits came with a cropped kick flare embroidered with white stitching and a trompe l’oeil patch pocketed jacket.

Surprise sighting
Designer Jeremy Laing, who has been MIA for a few seasons, hooked up with the brand to help with styling this season.

Best quotable
“In every collection, you need a good ugly colour”, explained designer Kim Newport-Mimran backstage. This season, it’s the brownish tone she dubbed acorn.

Accessories
Echoing the crochet details stitched onto collars and wrapped around jacket buttons, assistants hand sewed crochet chokers onto the models backstage. Round Culter and Gross sunglasses and flat form espadrilles brought the 70s back full swing.
