This month marks a huge milestone in Pride history: the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York, a response to targeted police harassment of queer people in Nw York City. Considering this historic anniversary, we can count on Pride celebrations to be bigger, more plentiful and bolder than ever before.
Like clockwork, every June brands begin to roll out the rainbow carpet with Pride-themed products in an attempt to attract the queer dollar, but we believe it is important to highlight the brands that are doing more then just slapping a rainbow on a t-shirt as part of a trending marketing strategy. After all, as the saying goes, the first Pride was a riot. In honour of Pride month and the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, we’ve gathered 9 items that donate a portion of their proceeds towards charities that give back to the LGBTQ+ community.
