Puck Flastic: SZA is Launching an Eco-Minded Streetwear Label
Cyril Gutsch, the design mind behind Parley, the organization that just collaborated with Adidas on a collection made out of upcycled plastic waste, once told Dezeen that “plastic is a design failure,” going further to call it “alien matter that shouldn’t be on this planet.”
It seems like SZA picked up on the anti-plastic bat signal that’s been in the air lately, as she just announced via Instagram stories that she’ll be launching Ctrl Fishing Company, an anti-plastic streetwear company that will raise awareness about the dangers of plastic in marine ecosystems as well as donate 100% of proceeds towards sustainability efforts. The brand has already garnered 25k followers on Instagram without having posted a single picture.
From what we’ve seen of the collection, it’s a heavily retro-inspired collection of sweatshirts bearing the Champion logo with colourful embroidery that reads “Sustainability Gang” and “Puck Flastic.”
In one of her stories, the “Love Galore” singer asked, “YALL READY TO SAVE DA OCEANS or nah.”
