Queen Elizabeth II Swears by this Drugstore Nail Polish
While Queen Elizabeth II is usually seen wearing gloves, underneath she’s said to have perfectly manicured nails painted in a popular drugstore nail polish.
According to Essie’s website, Her Majesty has been wearing the brand’s cult classic “Ballet Slippers” ever since 1989 (clearly, she knows what she likes and sticks to it). Legend has it the Queen’s hairdresser sent Essie founder, Essie Weingarten, 28 years ago, requesting a bottle of the sheer, pearly pink hue, as it was the “only colour Her Majesty would wear.”
But Queen Elizabeth II isn’t the only royal who’s a fan of this shade — her granddaughter-in-law Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is said to have worn the very same colour on her wedding day in 2011. Did Her Majesty lend KMids a bottle, perhaps? And more importantly, will little Princess Charlotte follow suit?
Only time will tell, but in the meantime, we’ll be heading to the drugstore to grab ourselves a few bottles so we, too, can channel our inner royal. It is, after all, a shade quite literally fit for a queen.
